The only time I have ever done BRG was with hotels.com prepaid rate. Hyatt CS took a long time to validate the rate and then commented that mine was one of the few she has been able to approve. I did not book through hotels.com, only used their rate to claim BRG, Hyatt CS booked for me at the hotels.com rate. That rate difference was only ~$20/night for 2 nights, but I got 5000 bonus points.
