On EVA Air's web page it states pretty clearly that you can have one Carry-on item @ 7KG.
In Addition to this carry-on item, you are allowed a personal-item.
No weight limit for this one item or a weight limit for the combined carry-on / Personal item total is listed.
Being that I am flying out of MNL (Which is notorious for weighing bags to the molecular % limit minus a flux capacitor) I am trying to avoid any unforeseen problems ahead of time.
So I call the EVA hotline and their Stateside rep confirms that there "is no weight limit mentioned for the personal item as listed. Only a weight limit on the carry-on item".
So....... What I want to know is has anyone had any issues with this policy and has anyone tried to push a 7KG Total weight on them? (I am trekking thru Asia and so far, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines, & Malaysia Airlines and all so far have clearly stated on their web page a carry-on + Personal item weight limit of 12KG and 14KG for Malaysia, which is my goal to stay under)
