I'm not sure you'd gain anything by this in terms of benefits, since your silver status should give you lounge access on the return in Zagreb. if you buy it all as one ticket. then you're protected if something goes wrong on the flight from SJJ to ZAG on the return. 55 min is risky even if you only have a carry-on and can check-in for the BA flight online. otherwise I don't think there's any way to claim luggage and still make the BA cut-off deadline for check-in and OU won't through check bags on separate tickets with BA like they will on a single ticket.
