Changing planes in China definitely adds to the experience (or is downright inconvenient), depending on the city. I will make a note to avoid connecting in XIY. Of the three airports I've tried, Chongqing has the nicest airport by far. Also has excellent mass-transit right into the city. Changsha has a rail link, but you must change trains to get the metro into the city. I have not tried mass transit in Chengdu. Chongqing has a very nice lounge (with a shower; I was charged $7 to use it [LOL] but it came with a big bottle of hairspray, a big toothbrush and Darlie toothpaste, and a big tube of Nivea whitening hand lotion). Also made-to-order spicy noodles from a very grumpy lady who takes/makes your order. But the are very good!

The older seats (2-2-2) are not flashy but are excellent for sleeping. No pointy footwell to deal with. It should be noted that rows 11-12 (the first two) seem to be reserved for elites or otherwise, row 15 is actually the third row and the most forward one in which I could reserve. I booked on the HU website and had no seating issues. If the cabin is not full it's easy enough to switch before the door closes.

Be sure to hide the menu away if you want it. They seem to collect/reuse them. Anything I've wanted mid-flight was cheerfully provided. You will get a fruit plate at the end of every meal!
