I agree under an hour with small children would be stressful. And an overnight stay if you miss the connection (which could happen if your plane is delayed or has trouble finding a gate, even if you hustle as best you can) is obviously undesirable.

Would you be able to share the approximate dates of your trip? That would make it easier to suggest other options. Perhaps an early morning flight from ORD with a longer connection?
