To be safe, I believe that it's still possible to place the G fare ticket on hold, provide the PNR to the meeting services agents, and they can ticket it apply the BXP1s at the same time.
Unfortunately this appears to no longer be the case, unless it's a HUCA.
The agent said they cannot hold tickets if you book over the phone, it's an instant purchase.
