Haven't had need to do it, but as far as I know, you can do a points suite free night booking (e.g., 32K a night for Cat 5) with GoH, which might be useful for short stays if you want to guarantee the suite.
Right - that's a good idea. Hadn't considered that angle. I still haven't done an upgrade to a suite via points, but it often seems like it could work well.
