Are we talking "bump to a later flight the same day in D1 or equivalent", "bump to the next day in D1 or equivalent", "bump to a lower cabin on the same flight", "bump to a lower cabin on a later flight the same day", or "bump to a lower cabin on a flight the next day"? And is an alternative routing involved?

And of course, the answer is "it depends" for the first two and, to quote Blazing Saddles, "a ****load of dimes" for the latter three.

In the first two cases (D1 is preserved), if I have time to spare there are plenty of times I'd take nominal compensation and an absurd routing quite happily (requiring overnight accommodation if I'm now "stranded").
