As it's family, we are all contributing to my flights. It's not just the cost of the Etihad flight, but connecting flights to get me there and my flights back to Europe. The relative was being stoical saying they didn't need help, but when the family said I was going, there was relief all round they wouldn't be on their own. They would be travelling in economy themselves if it wasn't for their advanced age and a doctor's recommendation that if they were to fly to Europe again, he had to go business class to be able to stretch out and rest properly. He didn't really rate it going over, so hopefully he'll have a better experience on the return.
