Monterey Marriott has an "Elite Room" badge outside some of their larger corner rooms with a bay view and/or balcony. I believe those rooms have updated furnishings. Elite Rooms are not explicitly listed as such when booking a room online, so I take it those automatically get assigned to elites upon checkin. I've been fortunate enough to at least get booked into these rooms when upgraded rooms aren't available.
