Other than a sign indicating a named suite, I haven't seen this at any of my usual Marriott/Hilton type hotels.

The whole "elite" or "club" level thing is a bit amusing when that floor does not have a lounge. Although I did stay at a hotel recently where the FDC said they try to avoid putting large groups on the club level. On a weekend stay when the hotel had a couple boozy wedding parties going on, the club level did seem fairly quiet. So if hotels are actually doing this, especially on weekends when they aren't sold out but are more likely to have noisy groups, then it can actually be a benefit more than just an ego-stroke.
