Oh Dear God Yes.

Until recently I spent a lot of time in the CP Leeds, and have had many run ins with CP when trying to convert miles. You would have thought that just giving them the 8 digit BAEC number would be enough. You'd be plain wrong.

The best thing to do is ring up BA and say, essentially, "Hello, what's my name? As far as you're concerned?"

The problem is the jokers in Manila (PC) often cannot process the conversion if they don't have the EXACT name as it appears on BA's computers. So it's no good saying "Peter O'Hanra-O'Hanrahan" if at BA you are actually "Mr Peter G L O'Hanra-O'Hanrahan."

Don't assume that the name on your EC card is the name that BA hold for you. That's a schoolboy error. And that's where I went wrong. They have me as a "Mr" and have my two middle initials, too.

Their incompetence can be a good thing though. When, after 8 weeks, a conversion for 50,000 BA Miles hadn't posted I rang up. The CS agent said it had screwed up and that she'd fix it but I would have to wait another 6-8 weeks. I threw my toys out of the pram at this point. Demanded to speak a manager. A week later 50k posted.

And so did the original 50k following day. Which I regard as fair recompense for the hours of my life I've spent pleading with the PC.

Mind you, I miss it now. I've been living in the Radisson Leeds for the past 3 months, on and off, and even though I sweet-talked them into comping me gold (highest) status, the miles aren't even a third as good as the Plaza.
