Let me ask the dumb question.....

If you want to fly non-stop on NW, why didn't you buy a ticket from them in the first place?

I assume it's because the AA ticket via ORD is (a lot) less? Buy the cheaper ticket from AA and then hope NW will let you use it on the day of flight? Certainly an interesting approach ....
