Flight deliberately delayed by BA

As explained to me by a very sympathetic Crew member (who was really excellent). Crew staying over in Riyadh aren’t allowed to stay for more than 48 hours due to visa requirements. Because there was no inbound flight back to LHR on the night of 10 September because of the strike, BA263 to Riyadh on 8 September was deliberately delayed by BA so that we arrived on the 9th. It was advertised before the flight as a two-hour delay (presumably to avoid compensation) but then stretched beyond that because of air space congestion to nearly three hours. Maybe understandable but I though pretty sharp practice.
Presumably I’m entitled to compensation?
