We spent 7 days in Japan, brought 90000 yen and brought back 40000, one hotel paid 12000 in cash, others were points or prepaid / AirBnB. So about 2700 per day including transportation and 2.5 meals (not all hotels had breakfast). We weren't trying to spend little, as evidenced by the budget, but that's what happened.
