Dear escape.
Thank you for your reply. I have read and seen your review as well, thank you for your impression and experiences as you describe in the review.
You must be the expert when you have stayed 10+ times in the hotel, it was only my second one. On the other hand I have travelled to former Starwood/Marriott hotels worldwide even before 1996 when SPG started. I know the hotels very well.
Regarding the upgrade, I had mailcontact with the hotel and they promised an upgrade to the suite when available upon arrival. When I arrived at the reception I was suprised to see a different attitude. I am aware of Marriott rules btw.
"a bit odd style of writing but thanks for taking the time to share your experience" I try to write down my experiences as a guest in English and share it on Flyertalk, as I have done for many years. I have heard some like this style and other do not. I try to do my best and it takes a lot of time and energy to make it. Perhaps some like your style and other do not?
We have all different experiences, even in the same hotel, sometimes even at the same days.
"I found breakfast in the lounge to be fine although nothing special. The choice of fruits was not particularly impressive and pineapples seemed like they were half way spoiled. There were a few hot dishes such as scrambled eggs, baked veggies, sausages, and bacon. "Since I have been here only during the weekend, I was a little dissapointed I could not have breakfast in the lounge, just to experience this. Thanks for sharing your experience.
