LATAM Melb-Santiago 787-8 or 787-9?

Hi All,

We have booked a flight December 23rd Melbourne - Santiago via Qantas (QF5027), which is operated by LATAM (LA804).

I checked Flight aware wondering what type of plane we would be flying on and its listed as a 787-9 flight.

I then went to select seats via Qantas and the seatmap given for selection matches the 787-8 LATAM config, not the 787-9 config.

Does this mean that the route is being swapped over to a 787-8 by December? Need to understand as want to make sure we have ok seats as travelling with a 2 year old, given the config is very different.
