As long as your arrival is on time, this should not be all that hard.

If you have to change terminals the Skytrain runs often and is quick, and folks at checkin counter should have access to your itinerary (I think, as they do at UA) and they should be able to see the status of arriving aircraft. I know that UA folks generally wait until the last minute to offload pax and will look to see where they are coming from. Suspect AA works in a similar way.

You may call AA, but I'd be surprised if MCT for D I would be more than 45 minutes, but you can call and plead your case for an earlier flight.
