Some issuers are going back and adding the symbol to the front now. I guess they thought the card design was cleaner without it on the front and a potential need for signature CVM on contactless (depending on the CVM limit) would mean the person would look at the back anyways when the terminal was not facing the customer, but my re-issued Marriott Bonvoy Amex has the contactless symbol on the front & back (SPG Amex design only had it on the back) and while my 3 chase credit cards only have the contactless symbol on the back, my Chase debit card has the contactless symbol on the front and back.
