I think I may have asked this earlier, but didn't get the specifics that I really needed so I called UA, but I'm not so sure I can trust what the CS rep is telling me since it sounds like I called an overseas contact centre.

My concern is UA243 and UA871. I have roughly 1 hour 4 minutes layover at SFO. I checked the flight histories of the two flights since the travel waiver came into effect. I'm not interested in changing my flight dates because I'm flying in on Tuesday and coming back on Friday. Also my hotel reservation in TPE is non-refundable. I asked UA customer service what they would do if I don't make it on to UA871 due to a delayed arrival with UA243. The rep said if I'm stuck in SFO, then UA will give me a voucher for a hotel at SFO (don't know where) and reimburse me for my out of pocket expenses such as food. I just need to submit documents to UA's website. Is this true? Sounds a little too good to be true. I have no experience with this. I'm just surprised that UA wouldn't announce this back in August when I made my reservation with them. I had no idea that SFO would have a runway closed for construction work. Anyone here have experience with this in the past? I'm thinking it's possible I might even be stuck in DEN considering that some short haul flights to SFO have been cancelled.
