[QUOTE=380Flyer;31391349]Flew SQ's First Class on longhaul recently and must admit that the catering and service is on a major decline.

The caviar is served in a very disappointing state and presentation, the soup was cold and not heated properly, the salad was also very basic and poorly presented.

For the price that SQ charges for its First Class product, the value and proposition is not there to justify the high pricing.
Exactly!! Finally found someone with the same sediments with me!! Only the new A380 Suites feels like First Class because of its size, everything else like lounges, on board service, its just mediocre! I remember asking the crew for a mother-of-pearl spoon, she did not know what it was!! I could go on and on for the list of things (no towel plate and choice of hot & cold towels, chauffeur service, Godiva pralines) that Singapore Airlines First Class does not have. It is just good and not amazing at all!! You are paying the high price for convenience only because of the direct flight to and from Singapore!
In fact, the food service on Qatar Airways 'Qsuite' Business Class is even better than Singapore Airlines First Class!
Emirates' First Class seat is not as good as the new A380 Suites because it's smaller but has extra features like showers, an onboard lounge, vintage wines that's 20 years old, exclusive cognacs, self service area onboard, chauffeur service, free hotel stay, meals for long transits, massages in DXB lounge.
On Garuda Indonesia, the onboard chef will bring the soup bottle to you and pour to your plate!
This is how the caviar on Garuda Indonesia looks like
This is how the caviar on Qatar Airways A380 First Class looks like, only airline in the world that provides 2 mother of pearl spoon!
