What makes an eligible American Airlines purchase that gets 2 miles/$?

I was going to post that I received 10K miles on my anniversary credit card statement. I thought this benefit was discontinued and I was pleasantly surprised to see it. However, when I looked further at my statements I'm only getting 1 mile/$ on AA purchases. The Barclay website says "eligible AA purchases".

Help would be appreciated.

Is there a better AA card?
