I don't think it is fair to compare Marriott against Tech and Airline performance from the past 10 years.

It is fair to compare to Marriott performance to Hyatt and Hilton - and Marriott blows away that competition in terms of stock performance by quite a bit - despite a difficult merger and data breaches.

While I don't think innovative is the right word - The mgmt team has certainly done something right, at least in terms of stock performance. What Arne did get right, is making the acquisition of SPG - others had the opportunity - Marriott pulled the trigger.
