I searched for a while but cannot find a conclusive answer, apologies if it is clearly written somewhere.

My children (both have Silver card from my GGL) want to fly LHR-JFK-LHR on a Basic fare. I though to have read on here that seat selection does work as normal for these fares if you are Silver, Gold etc but they show me the booking page which say "Executive Club benefits apply except for Basic fares". They insist they don't want my subsidy for this trip, but maybe this will prove too basic for them too..

No hold luggage is fine, but seat selection would be good, and also 'last to board' does not sounds great.
