We are taking advantage of an Air New Zealand error J fare from ORD-AKL. We have booked an AC ticket from YUL-ORD. As we are checking luggage we would like to check it through all the way to AKL. Based on everything I have read it sounds like this should be quite doable given that NZ is a *A partner. Is this safe to assume? Also, do you all normally follow up on your luggage at the connecting ariport to see if eveything is ok?
AC is unlikely to check through your luggage on separate tickets.
You don’t have a connection, just two separate trips. I hope you have left a lot of time between these flights, as if you do not check in for the NZ flight in time (late AC arrival, cancellation) your entire NZ itinerary will auto cancel. In your case you will have to pick up your luggage, go landside, get yourself over to the NZ desks, and check in again, then go through security.
