That's the real question... sure, its fun as a thought exercise I guess but think again about flying 4MM BIS miles on united. I would think, if anything, the last several years have taught us that airlines will do whatever they want. So, one would waste over a year of your life to get better IRROPS treatment once in a while? Its much easier, and (in the end, now) cheaper to just buy discounted J for the routing you want, at the times you want to the places you want to go. (And if you have a year of intense flying ahead, buyPass Plus and guarantee your GS for that time..) .
