This really annoys me too...it's an advertised benefit yet I've not seen BA do it once on any of my s/h flights (but nearly always offered l/h at least in my experience). Even IB manage to do this when I've flown them (thankfully not very often - but it was one of the few positives I could draw from them vs. BA)?!
