I was on last night's (or rather today's) inaugural overnight service from Dubai to Heathrow, so my first opportunity to try out actually sleeping on board.
I went for 16A, which I've come to enjoy on my Madrid trips, but I'm not entirely sure it's the right seat for overnight travel, it is quite a fair bit more noisy and with rather more vibrations at 40,000 feet than seats further forward. I'll put more extensive notes on this in the A350 seating thread later on.
I can't give you many photos of the food or the catering standards - I went straight to sleep from a few minutes after take off until just after Frankfurt am Main. So the only service I had was a cup of coffee. The crew were very good and left me to sleep, while getting me a hot drink as soon as I had surfaced. I got a fairly good sleep all things considered though I will need to have a few more flights to get used to it. I wasn't bothered by the foot coffin, but I did find it a bit tight for space blow the knees, the seat comes inward at a particular point.
Here are the menus at least. This late departure only gets a snack after take off but has a hot breakfast close to landing.
and the breakfast card:
It's definitely OK to have the White bedding bag under the footstall, which which good when night time is limited.
The CSM went round soon after take-off to make sure people knew they did not need to wear the shoulder strap while sleeping.
We departed on time (01:32) and the aircraft was fairly lightly loaded. There were just 4 of us in the rear cabin, and WT / WTP was only have full.
Take off was at 01:49, landing into Heathrow was at 06:11, so a 7 hour 22 minute flight. Doors open at 06:17 at T5C (gate 65 I think) and I was heading to London on the tube at 06:32, so a nice speedy exit from Heathrow as an HBO passenger, I was in Westminster an hour after disembarking.
