You can get a pass to assist someone to the gate. My mom is in a wheel chair and do it for her and my father is old, so just grab one for him to hang out with him while he waits for the plane since he doesnt fly much any more and I can sort out any issues that may arise. Probably not a common known thing, other wise it would be abused. Also, they wont take my precheck number so I have to go through the normal line.
