The CS agent on the phone assured me there'd be no security issues since "my bags were checked through." Long story short: Two passport control queues, then a LONG queue for liquids/electronics out of bags, X ray, the works. No help from surly LHR staff, which always shocks me a little given how lovely UK residents are in general. Came within minutes of missing my connection. I wonder why so many airlines can't seem to offer correct information on connections in larger airports - had a similar experience recently on Alitalia in CDG. I'm really starting to consider 180 minutes the minimum for these huge facilities once you factor in delays and security queues.
BNA-LHR-GLA is a T5-T5 connection. If your BNA-LHR arrived at T5C, it would have been the transit to T5A, clear inbound UK immigration (this is located in Flight Connections), upstairs to (standard) security, then go to a T5A gate. The official Minimum Connecting Time is 60 minutes, so at 90 minutes you would normally expect to have ample time to do this. I don't immediately understand how you could have encountered passport control twice.
