Try Park Inn instead

I had booked a night at 1919 and a night at Saga before Park Inn Keflavík availability opened up week before my trip. Not only did I save 22K+ points per night, but there was free hot breakfast and free parking. We got updated rooms which were way better than the non updated rooms they showed us. There’s a Quiznos and a gas station next door, a restaurant in the lobby, and a shopping plaza with Bonus and Kronum supermarkets, a Dominos and a Subway is 5 minutes drive away. Restaurants are super expensive in Iceland so between the free breakfast, fast food joints and supermarkets, we saved hundreds of dollars. The Park Inn is 10 minutes to the airport, 20 minutes to Blue Lagoon and 15-30 minutes to lighthouses and geothermal parks in the Reykjanes peninsula. Reykjavík downtown was 35 minutes away and we did paid parking there for about $4/hr.

I did walk by the 1919 and it was located right in downtown. The 1919 is great if you are spending only a day or two in Iceland, plan to crawl the breweries and pubs in the evening and do not plan to rent a car. For families or for folks who are spending a bit more time in Iceland driving around, I’d highly recommend the Park Inn for the first or last leg of your trip.
