Indeed. I don't think this lack of availability has anything to do with loads - they didn't all of a sudden flip from plenty of space to always full when the reward availability fell off a cliff since last September. This has been a deliberate cut of reward availability to partner airlines such as BA for short haul flights to and from HKG.

However, if you look at connecting flights often there is quite a bit of married sector availability. I don't know the rationale for the much greater availability for connecting itineraries tbh? Compare HAN-HKG to say HAN-HKG-PVG and you'll immediately notice a big difference.
