Icelandair - Unpleasant Baggage Experience

I flew with Icelandair this morning from Keflavik. I am a Saga Club Gold member and have generally been an Icelandair fan. At check-in I had one suitcase that they weighed at 32.3 kilos. I was told quite brusquely that I needed to remove 0.3 kilos from my bag or I would have to contact Icelandair Cargo (!!!) to have it transported. Anything above 32 kilos was “illegal.” I did as I was told and was then asked to hand over about 50 Euros for the privilege (excess weight) of my bag. I have flown with Icelandair on numerous occasions with bags as heavy and never had an issue - either being asked to take stuff out of it or to pay anything. Have I just been lucky up until now or is Icelandair doubling down on charges like these. The airline is not doing well financially - it furloughed over 100 pilots today.
