The first leg is Toronto to Maldives which brings us through Istanbul airport for a 2.5 hr layover and or first stamps ever from Turkey.
On our way home from Singapore, we connect through Shanghai with a 10.5 hr layover. We were hoping to head out of the airport for a bit and explore but now I see this might not be possible?
No problems with Turkish stamps if you have only 1 night stopover at IST, They always checked the entry and exit stamps on my passports (i have 14 stamps of IST). I don't know what happens for more than 1 night in Turkey. Maybe you could have problems. But ONLY if you ask for a free 24 hours transit visa. No problems if you remain in the airport
