So this connection is right at the MCT but perfectly legal. It's certainly tight and doesn't leave much room for error, but it's far from the end of the world, completely do-able even with checked bags. Whether it's one ticket or separate tickets AA will just rebook you on the next flight if things were to go wrong. I wouldn't stress at all.
I believe the standard MCT at LAX I-D is 2 hrs, but there's an exception for AA-AA. To me, 90 minutes is cutting it close without GE, especially since early morning is often times very busy at TBIT (with multiple flights from Oz and South America arriving around the same time) and the connecting flight is out of the Eagle terminal. Yes, AA will rebook if things go wrong, but of course there must be available seats. I might not stress too much, but I would definitely have a contingency plan in advance.
