Yeah for most of the 90 minutes I was under the impression it would be a few hundred dollars to not fly. By the time the long conversation was over I had missed my window to catch the flight. Only in the last five minutes did she quote $1700 and a few days later I got the $2200 price in an email from LH auditors. If I had snapped to early in the conversation I certainly would have taken these flights. So yes, I paid $2200 not to fly. I am a very experienced 1k on United and somehow this one just ran away from me.
