I am wondering if I could get a TP run out of the trip by connecting in Helsinki BUT
1. Helsinki-Tromso direct flights quite expensive (and would cancel out the benefits of the LHR-HEL TP run on a cost per point basis)
2. Avios rewards for the HEL-TRO route don't appear available (error message 'British Airways and its partners do not fly this route'). I see on the Finnair website this flight is operated by Wideroe for Finnair- is this why redemptions aren't possible?
Think I might just need to stick with a low-cost carrier in this instance but thought it would be worth asking to see if I've missed anything.
The BA website is not the best and quite often it does throw up this error for other OneWorld carriers on which you can use your Avios for reward flights. The only option in this situation is to call BA. And be persistent. Sometimes the call centre agent you get through to does not know etc. so call with all the details to hand. The exact flights you would like, times etc. Given the huge load on BA staff at the moment, you may find yourself on hold for a long time...
