I figured it would be totally at my own risk but good to hear AA would probably be understanding if connection was missed. There’s also a very early flight to ORD so may do this one to maximise chances of getting there same day.
Would anyone be able to recommend the absolute minimum connection time I should build in? I would be going HBO. Thanks
It's actually AA's policy to protect across separate OW tickets. I'd still plan sufficient connection time between the flights to allow for a at least a 1 or 2 hour delay of the first flight. I'd leave 4-5 hours between the flights. While AA will rebook, if all flights are full that day you may have to wait until the next day. With AA you'll be able to stand-by for an earlier flight.
