Well, here's a new one. I tried to check-in for tomorrow's international trip (domestic segment followed by TPAC), and got the dreaded, "Your check-in requires special handling..." so I figured I'd be randomed for SSSS again. But sometimes this happens when a ticket is out-of-sync, and since I made a change to the domestic (first) segment yesterday, I called GS just to see what was going on. I expected to be given the cryptic line about "the computer did this and I can't do anything to fix it." Boy, was I wrong!

The nice GS agent asked me if I was traveling with anyone. Not once, not twice, but three times. Each time I replied, "No, I'm alone." He asked me if I booked the ticket myself, or if someone else did. He asked me if I was on "official business." I told him it was a leisure trip, a saver award upgraded with a GPU; I booked the award online, and had a GS agent apply my GPUs. He AGAIN asked me if I was traveling with anyone. I AGAIN said, "No!" Then he asked me to verify all my personal information, including the MP secret questions.

Finally he explained that my record said I was escorting a prisoner, and I would have a firearm. OH! So that's why I couldn't check-in on-line! I told him I was not in law enforcement, and that I had never even held a firearm. He explained that someone had made a mistake (how could that happen?), and he'd need to get a "supervising service director" to remove the hard-coded remark that prevented check-in -- I guess even the service directors have supervisors. It took about 20 minutes, but he came back, said the entry had been removed, and he had checked me in successfully, including pre-check. He told me that in 25 years as a reservations agent, this is the first time he's seen this.

Anyone else?
