It seems OP is asking how easy an upgrade might be. There are 32 over water villas and 10 of those are base rooms you can book on award. Upgrades would be 9 sunset, 12 duplex, and 1 royal villas.
Exactly. Booked a standard overwater villa with points because 85k points for a $1000 a night room isn’t a bad deal compared to other properties here. With seemingly 21 villas you can’t book on points (assuming royal villa isn’t upgradeable) then there should be a decent chance of a slightly better villa. Although in looking at the Viceroy videos, the duplex second floor is nice but unnecessary unless you have a few people and need an extra bed or something. Either way it’s an overwater villa in the Maldives so it can’t be that bad comparatively, but an upgrade is always nice!
