While you don't like the location, I love it (though I'd prefer to be on the opposite side as the geothermal plant with the better view). It's right in the midst of the Thingvellir National Park--making it quite easy to access the Golden Circle tours that most tourists come to enjoy while in Iceland.
And of course, in the winter, this is an incredible location to easily see the Northern Lights.
In terms of getting away from the Reykjavik lights and being in the pastoral and remote areas of Iceland, it's really just the ION, the less impressive Ranga, or the far more expensive Deplar Farm.
