Agree it does sound like a big mess. However these things do happen and when they do, the way the hotel handles it is most important. Other than the drink voucher and 70,000 points (which buy you a night at IHG's top category redemptions, and up to 3 nights at some properties) what else where you expecting?
I assume you also received 10k points for the lack of an upgrade?
