Thanks all! I'll take these in order:
- The BA app appears to redirect to the website. I'm getting the same errors there as I do online. Called 800-AIRWAYS again last night and was told I'm basically SOL till check in at which time some seats may open up.
- Not sure if serious vis a vis collecting compensation. You bet I'll apply if I'm entitled but don't know how this works.

I'm definitely bookmarking this to see what my options are if I do wind up in a significantly downgraded seat. To be clear, they didn't change my class of service, just the seat assignment - but I did pay around $70 for it, I'd like that back if I'm to be crammed in the middle for the duration.]

I'll get one full day in Glasgow, (which I intend to fill with Kelvingrove and the area around Central Station) before heading to Dunoon for the Highland Games and to see some sites tied to Clan Ewen/Ewing, from which I descend. Nashville was pretty well built by Scots (our sister city is Belfast, home of the diaspora), I'm a history freak, and I've never visited, so you could say I'm pretty excited.
- Would loooooove to get to Edinburgh but am planning to come back and bring the spouse. I'm actually later to BA's BNA-LHR route that I meant to be - avoiding the JFK layover will be marvelous.
