This is factually incorrect. Being an AU on someone else's account does not add to your x/24 count.
This depends on who you ask. As far as I'm concerned, AU cards add to 5/24. You won't get auto approved if your AU cards put you over 5/24. You can try recon, but that's not guaranteed. Why risk it?
I was 4/24 2 years ago not including AU cards, applied for CIP, and was auto-denied for having too many cards. Tried recon and was denied for having "too many new accounts" and "not enough business history" (2 years old). Since we all know the last reason is BS, what does that leave us with?
Anyways my recommendation with AU cards is: don't do it, unless it's for a biz card that doesn't report to personal CBs. Yeah you can get them removed from your credit report, but that can be difficult and takes a while. Not worth getting an
AU card, most of the time.
There are also a few instances where being an AU can help your credit, etc, and those are ok too. But that's very specific. For Chase, as a rule of thumb, better to avoid it.
