I know the WoH T&Cs say that status benefits are not provided on ineligible rates, but I’m wondering what usually happens in practice.
I travel all of the time as airline crew so my rates are ineligible, although I do earn points for room charges at some hotels. It's hit or miss on lounge access. I rarely get room upgrades, as the room is preassigned (although it does happen on rare occasions).
Whenever I check in, I give the FDC my member number and a credit card for room charges. If they extend some of the status perks to me, great. If not, no big deal. I would guess that I get at least some perks close to 75% of the time. This is across Marriott/Hilton/Hyatt properties.
