Asking nicely is sort of OK, I guess, but assuming or expecting is where this all goes.... the OP is asking so that he/she knows what to expect... it all leads into expectations and that's where the cheating/whining comes into play like "oh the FD agent mentioned breakfast is downstairs so even though I know it's probably NOT ok, I'll just do it anyway and blame it all on the FD agent if they try to charge me."
