I have to shake my head in bewilderment on this one. "Air marshal's discount?" Seems to me that the air marshals can simply identify themselves as government employees and pay the standard government rates without having to whip out their badges. Seems like an easy fix to me.
Text of the article mentions that FAMs used to use standard government rates, but recently the FAM program headquarters has negotiated a special FAM rate which is lower than standard government discounts. HQ apparently ordered FAMs to use the lower rates by identifying themselves as air marshals at check-in.
