Heading out to Beijing this weekend to do this exact thing.
Trans Mongolian Railroad backwords. Beijing - Ulan (5 days) - Irtuksk (3 days) - Moscow and then 2 more weeks goofing around the eastern bloc countries.

Stoked, fly to Beijing Sunday.
