1. Do KLM waitlist/special request Plat upgrade (plat plus non status partner who I would "pay" for on same booking reference)? If so what are the magic words to cut through the script readers?
They used to waitlist Plats until quite recently, but no longer do. Also, there used to be an extra seat contingent for plats, rumour has it that has gone too.
At the moment you can still upgrade in the lounge for your outbound flight, but that privilege is about to go as well except for those on full-fare Economy tickets.
2. KLM quoted 40 000 miles per way per person (160k total AMS HKG AMS for two persons). Should that be the same for HEL/AMS/HKG/AMS/HEL?
It's supposed to include your connecting flight, but it seems (from what I remember reading here) that this is something some FD agents aren't aware of.
I am waiting for ticketing as well (sigh.. thanks eBookers and your dismal Indian back office) but I have the locator. Surely KLM can look up the ticket number whilst I wait for eBookers to pull their fingers out.
If you are waiting for ticketing then there probably won't be a ticket number for them to look up. Ticket numbers get allocated at the time of issue, not before.
And a rhetorical one... will KLM ever get better !
