Color me "pedantic".....
I am reasonably sure the Convair 880 aircraft were gone from the Northeast fleet when the merger was consummated with Delta in 1972. DL did acquire NE B727-95 and B727-295 aircraft which were new to the Delta fleet at time and I think NE DC-9-31 aircraft were acquired as well as part of the merger. I remember seeing a B727-100 in Northeast colors with Delta titles at IAH in the early 70's. And DL also briefly operated NE Fairchild Hiller FH-227 turboprops following the merger.
